The Second session of the Gill sponsored NYDS training again took place at Shustoke Sailing Club on the weekend of 4th & 5th of February 2017.

Once again the winds were a light 3-5 knots considering the forecast earlier in the week were giving out 70 mph winds.

The Saturday morning started with the usual morning briefing of the plan for the day and a recap of the previous squad session in December. Lots of tight /slow boat handling techniques was the emphasis for the day and some spinnaker work added to the mix, Unfortunately Jack was unwell so Olli had to step in and crew for little brother.

The helms and crews worked hard on their manoeuvres to build on their skills. To break these manoeuvres up the boats were sent down the reservoir for some spinnaker work

Sunday brought much the same conditions as the Saturday, Sunday morning’s briefing was a recap of the Saturday’s session, before heading onto the water to transfer the slow boat manoeuvres, into starting sequences and trigger pulling and short windward / leeward sprints.

The next Squad weekend in at Draycote on the weekend of the 25th /26th of March

The National squad would like to say thanks to the kind hospitality of Shustoke Sailing Club, they have been superb.

Thank you Shustoke we look forward to seeing you in April.

We have space available in the squad if any young sailors would like to attend for the remaining 3 weeks. If so contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or on 07990585798.
