Training events for Mirror sailors in Scotland 2013

The UK Mirror Class Association has received a training grant from the RYA, and is making funds available for training in Scotland. The grant from the RYA is to develop junior training and can be used to subsidise training as long as there is one junior in the boat, so an adult and child combination is acceptable. The funds are to provide a specialist coach, RIB fuel and support.

Nevertheless. sailors of any age are welcome, although they must be sufficiently competent to complete a triangular course in all but extreme weather conditions, and ideally should have taken part in some club racing.

New sailors are welcome and may attend MCA organised coaching events for their first two coaching days. Thereafter, membership of MCA is required for all other organised events. Membership details can be found on the UK Class Web site.

The Scottish area representatives are now seeking to gauge interest in training events in Scotland, and proposals for hosting such events. To be successful, a host club would need to be able to guarantee 4 or more elligible boats from their own club.

If you are interested in attending an event, wish to suggest dates and a venue, or otherwise comment on the provision of Mirror sail training events in Scotland, please contact us.
