Hollingworth Open and NE Traveller 3

Nine boats arrived at Hollingworth Lake SC for the Mirror open on Saturday. The fleet launched into an unexpected hailstorm, which luckily soon passed and the race got underway.

Rachel Grayson and George Richards made an impressive start and went on to lead the entire race, making it their first ever open meeting win. Sarah Richards who was sailing single-handed was over the line at the start but managed to sail through the fleet and finish in second place. Dave Winder and his son Joseph who was racing for the first time took third place, after much place changing with Emma Grayson sailing single-handed.

After lunch the wind had increased, Richards started at the starboard end of the line making a great getaway and was first to the windward mark, she continued to lead the race and go onto win it.  After a close battle between the Grayson sisters and the Winder father and son pairing, Emma Grayson finished second; Grayson and Richards came in third, with Winder and Winder finishing fourth.

The wind had increased again for the third race after a number of place changes Winder and Winder finished first, Emma Grayson second, Sarah Richards third, and Tom Dean and Dominic Daniels fourth.

Thank you to Hollingsworth Lake SC for a great days sailing and Dave Winder for providing the prizes.
