If you forget to log off, does the website do it automatically after a certain amount of time?

The site will keep you logged in on that computer, until you manually log out.

Thanx for replying - maybe it should be changed so that it signs you off automatically after some time, or when you close the page?

The message boards run on borrowed code - ie, code we didn't write from scratch - that is available for free download. It means Scotty or I certainly don't have the necessary expertise to address such problems (Simon may?). It is probably an incompatibility between the code used and your system setup. At the moment yours is the only complaint from 2,126 registered users who have made over 10,000 posts. Hopefully it won't bug you too much...

Personally I think it's great you don't have to keep logging on, the only time I have to is when I clear all my cookies every couple of months or so.

A Cookie is a small file that is placed on your computer when you visit web sites. The file contains information which the web site re-uses e.g. your logon details. When you return to the mirror forum, it finds the cookie created when you logged on and knows that you previously logged on. (Thats my guess anyway). Cookies can be deleted using control panel, internet options ......
