On a new subject. Please could someone advise me on a suitable rope material for my mainsheet. I have tried two different types and they both seem to develop a twist between the block from the transom and the block under the boom. The number of twists seem to increase everytime I go about when close hauled and the resultant friction makes sheeting in quite hard. I have the same problem with the Mirror's big sister; the Miracle.

We use polilite rope the same as used on lasers it can be bought from Rooster

We use 6mm for main and jib but that is really a personal choice. A tip is give it a cold wash in your washer before use, this removes any silicone left after manufacture, otherwise it can be slippery for the first few times you sail.

Thanks for that. I shall give it a try and stuff it in the washing machine first. I tend to put all dinghy sheets through the washing machine at the end of every season - gets rid of all the salt.

put two reasonable springs under your blocks - helps them stand up and makes it a bit stiffer for them to twist, tends to stop the rope twisting them, but lets the handler twist them easily.
