While I start to draw up dates for next years Youth Squad those of you who are considering applying to join us might like to consider the following.

We will consider applications to the Youth Squad from any Mirror Sailor who is too old for the zone squads (or have grown beyond the zone squad objectives).

Generally speaking we will accept applications from those who race on the NAtionwide Circuit and we know will be able to cope with the training we do and challenges we set.

Please, therefore, start to plan your summer season to make sure you are taking part in Mirror sailing. Please also talk to us if you have anything to discuss. Having some feel for what your plans are will help you and help us. Its very hard to consider you if you dont participate.

The Youth Squad is not the place for beginners. However if you are new to Mirror Sailing look at the NAtionwide program this year as some of the events are being geared to help those who have not done it before. If you have got the time we can help you progress into Mirror Sailing quite quickly. If you are very new to sailing think about joining an Armada program near you.

If you are applying for the NJS you can also hedge your bets and apply for the Youth Squad. Dont worry we don't tell the RYA about your application so you wont spoil your chances to get into the Elite National Junior Squad if you are good enough.

If you are in the NJS and are probably now too old and want to stay in Mirror Sailing join the Youth Squad along with your friends. You will find it quite a challenge here as our target is to get someone in this squad to win the 2009 worlds - this could be you?!

We are not bothered how you sail your Mirror - if you are a S/H sailor no problem as we are looking to do something at the 2009 Worlds to promote S/H Mirror sailing. Perhaps you could be the first ever S/H World Champion - (if you can beat me that is!).

Let me know.
