The Regatta took place from 30 July to 8 August and, as lockdown restrictions had been lifted, it attracted around 120 boats sailing within ten classes. The combined Mirror, Topper, Tera fleet was the largest with some 35 entrants of which 21 were Mirrors with visitors trailing their boats from a variety of sailing clubs.
Dovestones S.C. held their annual Mirror open meeting in September. Competition had to contend with dull conditions and a variable south-westerly wind.
In Race One a massive windshift, just before the start, turned the first beat into a reach. John McKeand got it right and rounded the mark first, with Luke Turnbull second and John Lewis third.
Competitors at Wigan SC’s Mirror Open on Sunday, 4th September, enjoyed bright, sunny conditions and a moderate but variable westerly wind. Four races were held, with three to count for the trophy.
In Race One Richard Badman (Blackpool & Fleetwood YC), Dave Warren (Burton SC) and John McKeand (Wigan SC) all made good starts. However, by the second lap a tussle had developed at the front between McKeand and Warren. At the gun it was McKeand first, Warren second and Luke Turnbull, fresh from his win at the previous weeks Youth championship, third.
