PLEASE NOTE

The 28 April (Mayflower SC0 and 9 June (Mounts Bay SC) are NOT OPEN COACHING DAYS. They are club Mirror open days designed to attract new Mirror sailors to try the boats and get involved in Mirror sailing. You should still try to get along there to take part and buddy up with any new sailors.

Sorry if this wasn't clear earlier

John

I am still waiting for a reply from Hollingworth regarding the training 16-17June. Does anyone know if I can attend the Saturday only ? What time it starts and the programme for the day ?
Any adult single handers going ?

Can you share the info when you get it? I might possssssssssssibly make the Saturday, but it won't be easy - so I'll need convincing to make the effort!

The general info page with specific links is now online here
www.ukmirrorsailing.com/Open%20C ... 0Camps.htm More info will appear there as it arises

It looks like you guys are gathering as singlehanders which means there will need to be enough of you to train separately or join in with the crewed boats. Half a dozen singlehanders should make a squad. However, most of the techniques will be applicable to both. It will be up to the coach on the day exactly what he covers when he sees what he's got to work with.

The programme is designed around two days learning and we have to pay the coach(es) for the weekend so we charge £40 (even this is subsidised) however long you come for.

It would be really good if Angus Carlisle (as singlehander rep and located near Ripon) could see what scope there is for a full S/H squad to attend from various clubs in the North and West zones. I am also trying to fix a one day event at Shustoke in July prior to their open meeting which is usually a large S/H event.

Hope this helps and you get what you want. If it is (or even isn't) and you want to try and garner regular support for some further training you can all get to then let me know. Don't forget the training just before the National on 23/24 Aug at Brightlingsea.

Hi there,

We have never been to an open coaching event before, and were hoping to come along on 19th and 20th May. I have tried emailing the contact on the open days page, but there has been no reply in a week.

What do I need to bring other than myself and crew?

Is there a height restriction at Poole Yacht Club, as we have an 8 foot high campervan....

Will someone be able to do a buoyancy test for us there?

I have sent off my measurement certificate so it can be updated, and have a valid MCA membership - what else do I need?

Is there an entrance fee?

Hi there,

Thanks - all sorted now.

We have booked online, and sent in the cheque and will be down for the whole weekend. 3 races will knacker Joel out, but he can sleep all the way home in the campervan!

Just hope the weather holds out OK, and we get our measurement certificate back in time from the RYA!
