Hi
Nicky Haigh has the ~Mirror Scottish Junior cup and would like to know where and to who he can return it as he is unlikely to attend the event this year unfortunately.

Scottish Mirror Championships

The Scottish Mirror Championships were held over the weekend of 4/5th July at Loch Ard Sailing Club, part of The Trossachs, Stirling region. The event this year, suffered from a very poor turnout of boats, seven in total, three of which travelled down from The Shetland Isles, one all the way from Surrey, one from Leeds, one from Aberdeen and one from Annandale. Conditions over the weekend were light with winds from 0 – 5 knots and as usual for the Loch, very shifty.
The Championships were won by brothers, Matthew & Benjamin Lulham-Robinson from Yeadon Sailing Club, Leeds, sailing ‘Artic Donkeez’. Single Handed champion was John Hugo from Annandale sailing ‘Straight No Chaser’. Youth Champions were John & Clare Peterson from Whitstable Yacht Club sailing ‘Ace Of Spades’. Junior Champions were Craig Forrest & Callum Mustard from Shetland Sailing Centre sailing ‘O Hoy’. The Masters title went to Mike & Caroline Heath from Aberdeen & Stonehaven Sailing Club & the Team Trophy went to the three boats from Shetland Sailing Centre, ‘O Hoy’ ‘Leiraness’ – Rory Goodlad & Fraser McKenzie, ‘Knab’ – Daniel Jamieson & David Spence.
It has become apparent recently that the Mirror Class Association have been concentrating all their effort into the South of England regions with the result that anyone North of the Watford gap, have had very little support with training etc, or boats travelling to support their events. The apparent feeling among some Northern clubs and especially in Scotland is that if the Class Association are not willing to spread its self North, and improve relations then we should set up a separate Northern Class Association.
The felling is that the UK Mirror Class Association needs to have a serious look at its use and distribution of resources and equipment.

Was there not some talk a while back of creating a separate Scottish Class Association? I know in Ireland the structure we find is working is for the association to have a representative in each club, whose job is to coordinate mirror sailing, and attract new sailors to the class, so spare work load on the central committee. It seems to be working well at the moment, as numbers are starting to pick up again.
