From the organising chairman
The Mirror World organizing team believes it is making headway with the enormous task of organizing an international sailing event. The majority of the logistic arrangements in PE are handled by the capable team from ABYC, the host venue for the event. Pine Lodge has been reserved as the regatta village for the event. We plan to run a social program at this venue to allow the various teams from all over the world to mingle and enjoy some traditional South African hospitality. The first round of country allocations and event program has been completed and published. Official documentation is nearing completion and we are well on our way with the appointment of the races officers and jury. We will be using the top local ISAF qualified guys plus two ISAF international jurors from overseas.

General information
South Africa is generally at its warmest in January and our summer holidays are at their peak from around the 22nd December until the 5th January.
School holidays are from the 1st December until the 9th January and generally everything is busier with accommodation and flights more difficult to book during this time.
Notwithstanding the many things to do in and around Port Elizabeth, you should if possible, try and see the Cape as well.
We are planning to link up with a local travel company to provide you with some economical tour options both before and after the World Championships.
In January, the temperature in Port Elizabeth is on average 22 deg C, with the sea temperature close to 20 deg C. The rainfall averages 36 mm in January and the wind is predominantly westerly in the range 10 to 15 kts (force 3 to 4).

We have booked out all available accommodation at the Pine Lodge Resort and Conference Centre which is located 8 km down the coast from the yacht club. The intention is to create an international village type atmosphere where competitors and spectators from all countries can enjoy at least two weeks of our South African summer. Various types of accommodation are available from camping in tents, caravans to a selection of chalet options. The resort has restaurants, bars and various forms of entertainment.
We plan to have scheduled transport from Pine Lodge to the yacht club for those without their own transport. The resort block booking has been made out in the name of Mirror Worlds 2007 and when making your booking you must state that you are part of the Mirror Worlds 2007 Event. This provisional booking will remain open until August 2006 when reservations will be opened to the general public, so you must book well before this date.
