Hi

Been sailing with a jib and a main for quite a while now and looking for some more fun.
Does anyone have a spinny in okay condition with all the bits and bobs needed for rigging?

Thanks Oli

I got some of mine from ebay. When I got fed up with waiting for the right bits to appear on ebay I bought the spinnaker kit from Trident, they were quite happy to remove the bits that I already had.

Only tried the spinnaker once, managed to get it up OK, but couldn't get it to set at all, it was a particularly calm day though.

Thanks for the advice. I've been checking ebay for quite a while and i've only managed to find one decent one, and one with an approximatley 1 sq metre hole in it! But i will keep looking.

Cheers

Im a young mirror sailor with a young crew (overall weight of around 13 stones).
So will a flyaway pole suit us better or should i go for the conventional pole?

thanks Oli

Depends how tall the crew is really. I've always sailed with conventional poles and i know that small crews can manage them, and also with conventional poles you can keep the spinny flying throughout a tack. ALso might be easier to set up.

depends how much experience you've got. fly away poles are a lot easier to get used to, and although many people say conventional poles produce better results once you get good, i don't think you can tell the diffrence.

The big advantage of a conventional pole comes on tight reach to reach gybes and when you need to do a quick gybe as you can complete the manouver leaving the pole on the mast. Do that with a self launcher and you'll be lucky to not get a bit of a jam, on the shrouds, mainsail...

Each to their own and both have their advantages and take lots of parctice
