"there's so much more to Mirrors than just racing".

Isn't that the truth. My Dad, an engineer, was very keen at one point to install a steam engine in ours!

Cheers
Luke

How would steam powered sails work?

I'm not sure how much my crew would like shovelling coal though!

It was I with the photos of the galleon.

This was 2 years ago at the Bursledon Regatta when about 30 Mirrors were rigged as ships of the English, French and Spanish Fleets. We were the Santa Ana.

I have got lots of photos of the event, as well as all the original galleon kit (which was designed by Moody's boatyard to fir over the hull of a mirror without damaging it)

Go to www.bursledonregatta.co.uk/ and click on 2005 memories for a few photos - these galleons really do have mirrors under them!

I remember on the mirror fun sailing website there used to be a picture of the mirror with mizzen and head-and foresails, but it was taken down
home.hetnet.nl/~herman1.janssen// is the website, the last picture in the "photoclick" is very funny...
Lots of interesting trivia on there as well.

Just checked out your link - looks like a method of bouyancy testing .... for the boat if not for personal bouyancy On the same site, go to archives (archieves??) and enlarge the picture second from top right. This is probably the sequel to the one Hannah mentioned....
... but this is emphatically NOT single handing!

By strange coincidence this same archive page also illustrates what has just been added to the new forum thread about Roy Partridge and his 15000 boats.

There's a sort of chequerboard of photos to the right of the page.
The colour one on the second row must be the sequel to the "bouyancy test",
and the two B&W ones below are presumably Roy Partridge's boats, both with same sail no.
The one on the bottom row illustrates a common configuration for my boat though it is usually somewhat wetter.
