Monday 11th April sees the start of the five day RYA Youth Championships at Hayling Island Sailing Club. The event offers youth sailors the chance to compete in the Laser, Laser Radial, 29er, 420, Spitfire catamaran and RSX Windsurfer classes, and can be used as a stepping stone for those hoping to go onto greater things, both within their chosen class and British sailing in general.
A total of 260 boats will take part in this years event, with the Mirror Class well represented by past and present sailors. Taking part in the 29er class will be Catherine and Ellie Hide, Maddy Anderson and Peter Sedgewick, and in the 420 Class Alice / Libby Courage, Mali Harnett, Charlotte Fitzgerald, Isabel Fitzgerald, Anna Watkins, Rosie Watkins/James Wilkinson, Megan Brickwood (one half of the current Ladies 420 World Champion crew), Tom Lovesey and Meia / Elin Harnett.
