The next Mirror World Championships 2013 will be held at Lough Derg Yacht Club (LDYC) from 27 July -2 August. The Irish Mirror Nationals  22-26 July are beforehand.

Lough Derg Yacht Club, founded in 1835, is situated in the picturesque village of Dromineer, near Nenagh, on the Tipperary shore of Lough Derg, Ireland’s largest inland lake.

Lough Derg is a non-tidal, fresh water lake, 32 miles long, 9 miles wide.

Sailing area 15 min from clubhouse/ Great for spectators/ New clubhouse with modern facilities and bar.

Ferries

There are many ferry routes between UK and Ireland. Google ‘ferries to Ireland’ or go to ferrysavers.com or directferries.co.uk to get an idea. For example:

Flights/Car hire

Loch Derg is accessible by road from Dublin (2h), Cork (2h 5 min) and Shannon (1h) airports. For car hire google ‘Car Hire Dublin Airport’ and you get a selection of companies such as Hertz, Budget, Europcar etc. Likewise for the Cork and Shannon airports and you can book online.

Set in beautiful central Ireland, Lough Derg, on the river Shannon, is one of the largest loughs in Ireland. It is a long expanse of water with shores in Clare, Galway and North Tipperary. At 36m deep, the lough is navigable along it’s whole length and is a popular sailing location.

It is 45 min form Limerick city. Other places to visit are Galway City (Ih 40min, home of the Volvo ocean race), Connemara (3h), the Burren in County Clare (1h 35 min), Bunratty Castle (45min), Co Kerry (2h), Cork city (2h) and Waterford (2h 10 min).
