There was a good turnout of 21 mirrors on a light Saturday morning at Northampton sailing club for the final nationwide event sponsored by Navigators and General.

There was a short delay due to the light wind but we soon got underway with the first race. Henry and Jamie took the first race after overtaking Robert and Sandy who seemed to be flying after their brilliant start, with Rachel and Gemma closely behind to take the third place.

For the second race the wind filled in and this saw Rachel and Gemma fly to victory after overtaking Henry and Jamie. Imogen and Sarah were closely behind to seal the third place.

The wind seemed to die as we got underway with the third race but Henry and Jamie got the win with Tom and Paddy on their tails after having a great mark rounding to claim the second place, and George and Fraser snatching the third place after having a fast downwind leg.

Going into the last race of the day, Henry and Jamie just managed to hold off Rachel and Gemma to seal the win closely followed by George and Fraser who had strong last beat to overtake Robert and Sandy.

After packing away the boats and getting changed we were rewarded with a brilliant meal from Elaine who never fails to impress.

Unfortunately, going into the final day the race officer was forced to postpone the start of the first race for two hours before the wind finally filled in.

We rushed into the first race of the day we thought that the wind wouldn't last for long.

Rachel and Gemma steamed to victory after a brilliant start and first beat! Robert and Sandy were closely behind with Felix and Monty having a fantastic race - just managing to hold off any other competition.

It was all to play for going into the last race with everyone having their own personal battles to win or get into the national squad.

After getting a good start, Henry and Jamie took the last race, very closely followed by Eleanor and Izzy who were on fire on the final day. Robert and Sandy held off Rachel and Gemma to take the third place.

The final results are:
1st Henry and Jamie
2nd Rachel and Gemma
3rd Robert and Sandy

Henry and Jamie were also the overall Nationwide Series winners.
