Big gusts and large shifts gave challenging conditions at Day 1 of the Mirror Nationals at Brixham. Playing the percentage game and not banging corners was the key to success and the the experience of Sarah Richards and David Coady showed with a race win each.
Shane McLoughin and Oscar Langan, fresh from winning the Irish Nationals, also had a consistent day with a 3rd and 2nd - setting the bar for the junior sailors. Day 2 is set for 3 races and potentially lighter winds - maybe time for the younger sailors to come to the fore.
