The Gul Mirror Worlds kicked off in a solid 3-4 from the south, the south west & the west, for the first hour the wind swung wildly as showers, clouds & clear skys rolled through. Evenually the wind settled into the south west, allowing IRO Jeff Martin and his team to set a windward - leeward course (yawn) and get the first race underway. The first attempt at a start ended in a general recall, but the fleet got away on the second attempt under a 'P' flag.

Sadly only a few members of the Falmouth Marine Band were sufficiently sober after Flushing Village Regatta the previous day to make it to the Opening Ceremony of the Mirror Worlds.

After the opening ceremony, there was a practice race. It didn't count for anything, and not everyone took part.
However, it did get on BBC Spotlight!

A number of sailors, mainly from overseas, are interested in sailing in the 2017 Gul Mirror British Nationals & Worlds. The three Winder charter boats and the four UK Mirror Class Association boats have been booked already, so these sailors are looking for charter boats from other sources.
