A wooden Mirror dinghy with varnished transom racing to windward

1967

Wood hull built by Jimmy Treen (?) . She was sailed out of Falmouth Docks SC and raced in Flushing SC club racing and local regattas. David 'Sweeney' Treen takes up the story "In her first years Serendipity was Dulux Jasmine, Steve switched to Black (which I didn't like - still Dulux) after a few years"

1968

Thanks to the Steve & 'Sweeney' Treen for sharing these photos of the 1968 Newquay Open (a rehersal for the 1968 National Championships)

  • Raced at the Newquay Open by Steve & 'Sweeney' Treen. "I think the pics were from an official photographer at the event that you could buy."

(Editor's note: I think she was painted black over the 1968/1969 winter because when I raced against her in 1969, I'm sure she was black)

1969

  • Raced at the National Championships by Steve & 'Sweeny' Treen who take up the story "We went to the Nationals at Poole and it was there that tape near the bow started to drop off (because it had been sanded so thin) and we had to isopon the seams☹. The boats were kept on a very sandy beach (the sand was so fine it got into our watch). Launching into the surf was difficult and there were helpers in the water pushing us out."

1970

  • Raced in Falmouth Harbour and Carrick Roads by Steve & 'Sweeney' Treen.
