Mirror Northerns - Hollingworth

37 boats arrived at Hollingsworth Lake SC on Saturday 18^th September for the Mirror Northerns, penultimate NE traveller’s event and the final nationwide series event, they were greeted with no wind, but by 12 o’clock the wind has filled in to make a good days racing.  Race 1 was won by Will Hide & Emma Clayton closely followed by Sarah Richards in second and Roy Platford in third, both sailing single handed.  After lunch race 2 was sailed with lots of place changing and finally Richards finishing in first place with Emma & Rachel Grayson in second and Rory MacKenzie & Oilver Winder taking third.  After a general recall race 3 got underway Matt & Ben Lulham-Robinson took an early lead and held it to finishing almost a leg ahead of the fleet follow by Richards in second and David Huges (single handed) in third. The heavy rain didn’t put off any of the fleet on Sunday morning and they all took to the water for an 11 o’clock start.  The wind had increased slightly from the day before’s racing. Race 4 saw a running finish with Grayson sisters taking line honours closely followed by Richards in second and James Wilkinson & Esme Shepherd in third.  Race 5 sailed back to back with race 4 was won by MacKenzie & Winder followed by Edward Grayson & Matthew Foster in second and the Grayson sisters in third.  Race 6 was sailed after lunch and still in the pooring rain with Helena Pugh & Libby Courage taking and early lead to finish first followed by Richards in second and Grayson & Foster in third.

Event winner and first single handed boat was won by Sarah Richards.  The winner of the Mirror Northerns was Emma & Rachel Grayson, sailing the first crewed boat.  Congratulation also to Peter Sedgewick & Nick Pugh for winning the Nationwide series.
