It is with sadness that the Leigh Sailing Club reports the death of Past Commodore, Mirror World, National & Area Champion and expert Mirror builder Dave Sherwin on 25th March 2024.

Dave won the Mirror Worlds in 1983 (Wales), was Europeans runner up in 1979 (England) and 1984 (Holland), won the UK Mirror Nationals in 1980 (North Berwick) & 1981 (Llandudno) was Nationals runner up in 1982 (Blackpool), 1983 (Mount's Bay), 1984 (Thorpe Bay) & 1985 (Plymouth) as well as sucess at numerous other championships.

He built a number of Mirrors in his dining room with great care to be down to weight and making use of the building tolerances to be fast boats, in particular:

59484 - Ginger (2nd Euros 1979,....)

64203 - Freckles (Winner 1983 Worlds,.......)

65908 - The Turn Of The Tide (Winner 1982 Nationals & 1984 Euros sailed by Mark Sherwin, she went on to win a further four UK National championships in the hands of Ian Walker).

Any Mirror class representatives would be welcome to the funeral and wake to remember Dave.
