What a restart to Open Meeting sailing after eighteen months of twiddling our thumbs! A weekend of racing for Mirrors with eighteen entries. The Lake looked positively crowded!
Although the weather had been wet and wild prior to the weekend, the first of the race days was reasonably sunny and warm. The only trouble was the wind – or lack of it! There was around an hour’s postponement between the race briefing and the start of the first of Saturday’s races.
This started in a light westerly. Bass’ sailing secretary, Phil Smith with young son Oliver crewing led from the start followed by Graham & Sebastian Vials (Derwent Reservoir SC) and Andy & Lily Smith (Bass). The Vials took the lead but then headed for the wrong off wind mark. Andy Smith followed their path leaving Phil & Oliver Smith to take a comfortable win.
The current 'early' entry price of £120 to enter the 2021 Gul British Mirror Nationals ends on Thursday evening 27th May. After that, entry goes up to £150. If you want to avail yourself of the lower price, you need to enter BEFORE Friday 28th.
To enter one or more boats for the 2021 Gul British Mirror Nationals, please use the following procedure. Note that by entering a boat, you are entering into a legal contract with the Organising Authority. Thus, the person entering the boat needs to be an adult. No problem for the sailors to be children, it's just the person who enters into the contract has to be an adult.
1) Read the Notice of Race (opens a new window). It's a condition of entry that you state that you have read this document.
