Notice of Race
1. 1. Organizing authority
The organizing authority is Mounts Bay Sailing Club.
The Competitors should note that Mounts Bay Sailing Club supports the RYA Racing
Charter & that, when entering, Competitors will be required to undertake to sail
in compliance with the Charter.
The prescriptions of the UKMCA will also apply, except if these are changed by
this Notice of Race or the SailingInstructions.
Local Rules: Tow Rope;- Every boat shall carry a rope suitable for towing that is
not less than 10 metres in length and 6mm in diameter. The tow rope must not be
used for any other purpose whilst afloat.

The event is open to International Mirror Class dinghies, including singlehanders.
All sailors must be members of their national Mirror Class Association
or Temporary

4. 4. TimesAll boats must register. Registration will take place at The Race Office Mounts Bay
Sailing Club Dinghy Pen starting at 9:00 am Saturday 26th June 2010.

All competitors under the age of 18years at the time of the event are required to
complete a parental declaration form, signed by their parent or guardian, in addition
to an entry form. this will be emailed with the entry form.

Double and Singlehanders will start together.
Only doublehanders shall qualify to win the Western Area Championship.
The leading singlehander will be awarded a prize.
There will be a briefing for competitors in the vicinity of The Race Office in the
Dinghy Pen at 11.30hrs

The number of races is indicative and will depend on weather conditions.

6. 6. Sailing InstructionsSailing Instructions (SI) will be issued upon registration at Mounts Bay Sailing Club
from 09:00 hours Sat 26th June.
7. 7. Racing AreaThe racing area will be in Mounts Bay, to the South and West of St Michael’s Mount.
8. 8. Disclaimer of Liability
conditions and that her crew is competent to sail and compete in them. The boat is required
to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party claims in
the sum of at least £2,000,000. Nothing done by the organizers can reduce the responsibility
of the boat, nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal
injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing.
The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the
organising authority, the race committee, the race officer, patrol boats and beachmasters.
The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of her responsibilities.
Competitors, visitors and guests may use the club facilities but accept that this is entirely at their
own risk. Mounts Bay Sailing Club will not accept liability for any damage to boats or loss of
property by competitors, visitors or guests whilst using the Club premises, boat parking area
or car park.
A boat is entirely responsible for her own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing,
whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this
responsibility. It is for the boat to decide whether she is fit to sail in the conditions in which
she will find herself. By launching or going afloat, the boat confirms that she is fit for those

Protests and requests for redress shall be heard in accordance with Part 5 of the RRS.
10. 10. Scoring
The event will be scored using the low points system in RRS Appendix A.
A maximum of six races and a minimum of two races will be sailed to constitute the championship.
If four or more races are sailed the worst score shall be discarded.
11. 11. Radio Communications
Competitors are prohibited from using mobile telephones and radio transmitters/receivers
whilst racing.
12. 12. Rights to Use Names and Likenesses
Competitors automatically grant to the organising authority without payment the right in
perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or
filmed television of, or relating to the event. They also allow their names, age category, club
and boat details to be displayed in competitors lists prior to the event and in results, on
the Mounts Bay Sailing Club website, the UKMCA Website, other publications and an
UNLISTED PICASA/GOOGLEwebsite for the purpose of easy distribution to participants
13. 13. Sponsorship
Boats may be required to display sponsors logos as defined by the organisers.
14. 14. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the Western Area Championship and to ot her
competitors at the discretion of the organisers.
15. 15. Coaches & Supporters.
No unauthorised coach or support boats will be permitted.
