Laleham S.C. held their 4th Open Meeting in July. The morning dawned with thunder, lightning and monsoon rain! and the Club wondered if any visitors would show up In fact, apart from 6 Club Members, they were delighted to welcome 13 other boats, including the holder. J. Kemp of Staines S.C. and some well-known Iver sailors.
The morning race in torrential rain, but no wind, was won by Derek Beere, M6950 'Pinta', of IPC (Iver) Y.C., with Laleham boats 3, 4 and 6. The rain relented after lunch, although thunder and lightning and a few breaths of wind helped the fleet along. Peter Barnes, M15500 'Medusa', won from Peter Hinton, M33279, of Laleham. During the final race, the sun almost shone, and the wind freshened a little. Peter Hinton got away to a perfect start and came in a long way ahead of R. Tagg of Laleham. For the first time, the Trophy was kept at home by Peter Hlinton, with Derek Beere 2nd, Peter Barnes 3rd and R. Tagg 4th.
Laleharn Mirror sailors were pleased to entertain their visitors, and demonstrate their sailing ability. They hope more Mirror owners wi ll bring their boats along and help to build up the Fleet so that they can have high class racing every weekend.
