Dovestones S.C. held their annual Mirror open meeting in September. Competition had to contend with dull conditions and a variable south-westerly wind.
In Race One a massive windshift, just before the start, turned the first beat into a reach. John McKeand got it right and rounded the mark first, with Luke Turnbull second and John Lewis third.
Roy Platford then took a leeward course and drifted to the front of the fleet, ahead of Luke Turnbull who had overtaken John McKeand. Roy Platford kept this for two laps, only to be becalmed on the final reach and be overtaken by John McKeand, Luke Turnbull and Andy Sharpe. However, a long inshore tack again took Roy Platford to the front, to cross the line ahead of John McKeand and Luke Turnbull.
John McKeand capitalized on a brilliant start from a port-biased line, to lead from start to finish in Race Two. Luke Turnbull maintained his second position, with Roy Platford third.
John McKeand again made no mistakes in Race Three. Another superb start took him into the lead, with Roy Platford and Luke Tumbull in pursuit. John McKeand held off all challenges to win both the race and the meeting. Further down the fleet, Roy Platford finished second, with John Lewis getting past Luke Tumbull to finish third.

2nd Roy Platford & John Deane (Wigan S.C.)
3rd Luke Turnbull & Gillian Toman (Wigan S.C.)
4th John Lewis & Celie Brookes (Winsford Flash S.C.)
5th Andy & Ann Sharpe (Dovestones S.C.)
