Dear Member,

It is some time since I last wrote to you but, as you can imagine, we have been rather busy of late. Already, in eight weeks, we have held our European Championship, National Championship, Southern Championship plus the special Gunter meeting, open meetings and two Mirror Dinghy days. Now you know why I haven’t written!

Furthermore this letter will have to last you for a few more weeks because we still have a pretty full programme yet to come.

First, the Northern Championships at Morecambe! You may remember that, last year, I was forced to cancel this Championship because of lack of support and subsequently I had a few stern words to say on this subject. I did say that I would be loth to organise any further events in the North for some time but I relented. This year we have had a Mirror dinghy day at Llandudno which was attended by only 12 dinghies. I hope this is not an ill omen for the forthcoming Northern Championship to be held on September 3rd & 4th. I would expect to see at least 40 boats turn out for this event and trust, if you live in the North, that you will make a great effort to attend. You should apply in advance to Mr. J.C. Topping, Commodore, Morecambe & Heysham, Yacht Club, 38, Marine Drive, Hest Bank, Lancaster, for the necessary entry form.

And now for a list of forthcoming open meetings with the addresses of the people to contact. Some of these events are in the Year Book, other have just been planned:-

Editors note: This newsletter is un-dated (as we don't have the envelope with the postmark), but the information about the 1966 National Championship in July fixes the year. The comment that the European Championship was over means it must be June, or early July, and June seems most likely. It has been digitized by Optical Character Recognition (OCR), so typos & errors are possible.
