Welcome to Reflections 105 which I hope you have received in good order. At the time of writing our Worlds Team has been selected and finalised and it has been pleasing to note how many youngsters have found their form this year and taken their places among the qualifiers. I believe this to be the result of training, meticulous boat preparation and sheer hard work. Credit must also go to the parents and friends of the younger crews who have expended considerable amounts of time and money travelling to the numerous qualifying events. Once again, our thanks must go to the incorruptible Ian Ware who has continued to maintain the seedings tables.
Although only four races were sailed our first three-day Nationals at Felpham SC was most enjoyable. Most competitors seem to have used the time ashore usefully swapping tuning information, measuring mast rakes, comparing centreboard and rudder profiles or simply chatting. The AGM was great and I really can’t understand how some members can bear to miss it! Next year we revert to our traditional format of a full week Nationals. This will be at Llandudno SC. John Golding and I have already had a fruitful preliminary meeting with the Club which has excellent sailing waters, is situated in a popular resort with masses of cheap and varied accommodation.
I hope to meet many of our members at Milford Haven where, on behalf of the Committee, I wish them every success.
