Beer SC were pleased to host, for the first time, a Mirror Area Championship. The excellent race organisation, hospitality and sailing conditions were appreciated by all who took part.

Under the experienced Race Officer, Colin Westlake, some very good courses were laid. With an offshore breeze of force 3-4 two back-to-back races were sailed on Saturday with a further two races on Sunday.

Twenty eight entries were received from far and wide proving that interest in Mirror racing is of a high standard.

A barbecue was held on the Saturday evening when all who attended had a spendid time. The late hour resulted in a few heavy heads the next morning.

Commodore David Boalch in summing up the weekend event sincerely thanked all members who had made the event such a success - these included the Race Officer rescue boat crews, admin staff and the ladies for the wonderful refreshments. The Commodore’s wife Mrs Annie Boalch presented the winners with their trophies.
