Sod’s Law Strikes Again!
I put a piece in the last edition of Reflections extolling the virtues of Loosdrecht in Holland as the venue for next years European
Championship.
Thankfully I did then say that this choice of venue was not 100% certain. That may provide something of a face saver because I now have to tell you that (only two day’s after Reflections went to press) I heard that, not only have the Dutch NOT chosen Loosdrecht, they have said they do not want the event at all!
The IMCA have now asked the Swedes if they can hold the Championship - it is normally their turn after the Dutch. I have heard nothing in reply but if the Swedes say no then it is over to the Irish and if they say no - yes, you have guessed it, back to us again!
Never fear, our Nationals will be at Llandudno next year and at our first meeting with the Club they said they could manage a combined National/Europeans if necessary. However, the uncertainty over the Europeans does mean that it has not been possible to set any dates yet for our Nationals. Watch this space for further developments - and no doubt for further examples of Sod’s Law in action!
