10 young sailors & coach standing on the beach at Restronguet SC

On the first few days of November, six teams met at Restronguet to test their mettle against a tough forecast. Mostly, thankfully, the forecast did not live-up to it's promises, although there were some nasty squalls to keep everyone on their toes and in the water in some cases.

James Wilkinson coached the group of boats, with sailors from Looe, Mounts Bay, Penzance and Restronguet coming together. For some it was their first ever open training, well done Amy, Chloe, Archie and Rufus. Supporting the event and getting in some practise there were some squad sailors too.

James gave a taste of full-on squad training, with warm-ups, a run on the coast path, a few exercise routines at the club, then into briefings, work on-the-water, de-brief and home – a packed two days. This event was also re-introduce a selection process for the Spring 2013 open training and if you want to know more about Mirror sailing in South West, from buying to racing to training contact; Brian Bowdler (This email address is being protected from spambots. Thanks to Ashley Shepherd for organising the training and taking the photos and to James Wilkinson for coaching.
