Felpham Sailing Club was the venue for the 1995 UK National Championship held on the Bank Holiday weekend 27th-29th May. In spite of an unhelpful tide and a strong onshore wind on Sunday and Monday the event was a great success. As the results sheet shows although the event was necessarily held over a weekend - a first in British Mirror sailing - and in the middle of the public examination period a total of 61 UK competitors entered the event. Given the circumstances this was a good turnout.

The Jubilee Nationals at Sidmouth, Principal Sponsor The Daily Mirror, attracted a very good entry of 136 competitors and many famous guest visitors, including Jack Holt, Barry Bucknell, Victor Shaw, Arthur Sidey and former World Champion Dave Sherwin.

Dave Sherwin led throughout the race, from Colin Gardiner of Forfar S.C., who was disqualified when he forgot his safety tag. Graham Ellis made a poor start, but came up from the twenties to finish in second place. There was a tremendous tussle throughout between Harry Prangnell and Mark Rushall. The World Champion, Roy Partridge, retired early in the race following a port and starboard incident. Welcome “far-flung” (but paid up!) Association Members were Frank Havik and Monique Janssen of Monnickendam, the Club who acted as hosts for the World Championships, and Grant Nicholls. who arrived at Newquay via Holland from Melbourne, Australia, and borrowed the Flag Ship.
