Offshore of Durban:

The 2025 Marriott Mirror Worlds Champs took place offshore from 14-19 April in Durban, South Africa. The Komweibels, a father and son team from Perth, Australia, demonstrated exceptional sailing skills during the event. They sailed for Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club and were in fourth place after only one race on the first day. They led competitors around the racetrack in the first two races on the second day and pushed through to a well-earned second behind countrymen David Meehan sailing with his nephew Henry Olsen.

The Wizards of Aus, James and Harry Komweibel from Perth, have secured all three races in Day Four of the Marriott Mirror World Championships hosted by Point Yacht Club offshore of Durban. The father and son team sailing for Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club are currently on 7 points, only 5 points ahead of second placed David Meehan and his nephew Henry Olsen. After seven races, the Komweibels have an impressive scorecard registering five first places and a second.

The fleet was led by Perthites James Komweibel (AUS) and his son Harry, David Meehan (AUS), and his nephew Henry Olsen. The fleet was set up by Race Officer Kevin Bingham, who set a sausage, triangle, sausage for the first race, followed by two quick fire windward leeward courses where the fleet sprinted around twice. James and Harry, who started the day in fourth, were in a class of their own, taking the first two wins of the day and a sterling second in the final race.

On the first day of the Marriott 2025 Mirror Worlds hosted by Point Yacht Club offshore of Durban, Paul and Polly Changuion are leading the leaderboard. The fleet set sail as the clouds were rolling in and the breeze was building. Race Officer, Kevin Bingham, set a windward leeward course with competitors needing to complete two laps. In the first race, the wind was sitting at 18 knots gusting 25.

The UK Container for the 2025 Mirror Worlds in Durban was packed at Island Barn SC on 15th February. Thanks to Ian Dobson for arranging & managing the shipping, dealing with agents etc. Five boats were packed, three of them are being charted by sailors from Australia.
