52 boats including the reigning World Champion John & Beau Dransfield from Australia, UK National Champions, Ben & Keira McGrane, plus a host of other top sailors from Australia, South Africa & the UK, gathered at Sligo YC in the Republic of Ireland Mirror World Championships Nationals from 23rd to 29th July.
Racing was held in the mainly sheltered, if tidal, waters of Sligo Bay. The weather was perhaps typical for the west coast of Ireland with low pressure giving cool, mainly cloudy, often wet conditions, far from ideal for who opted to campervan or camp in the nearby site.

It's been drawn to my attention that some boats are being rigged with an purchase on the adjustable jib tack. In the example above, the black and white line starts on the forestay attachment fitting, goes through the jib tack cringle, around a block to a cleat. By going though the jib tack cringle, a purchase of 2:1 is created. The rule governing adjustable jib tacks is 1.7.4
1.7.4 The tack of the jib may be secured so that it can be adjusted while racing provided that no mechanical advantage is gained by the adjustment.
To comply with the Class rules, the line needs to be attached directly to the jib, and then led around the block to the cleat.
Team GB Worlds tops by Rooster, available in blue or white, are now available here https://www.roostersailing.com/collections/mirror-worlds-team-gb. It would be great to see plenty of the GB team wearing them in Sligo.
