We have been having a clear out of our chandelry stock at rutland watersports and have found some mirror specific parts that we want to get rid of. we have no use or reason to have them anymore so would like them to go somewhere where they will be use full.
| We started the second National Junior squad weekend at Rutland Sailing Club (one of the few up north) with a rushed rig. We were all eager to get on the water after the last weekend at Weymouth. We all changed quickly and headed up to the briefing room to be greeted by Matt McGovern and his full time sailing brother; Johnny who told us that we still wouldn't be finding out who our new coach was till the next weekend. We were focusing on boat handling and starting over the weekend. It was about 13 knots so we started with an around the clock exercise followed by trigger starts, numbered starts, follow my leader, river bank and floating buoy races with a short brake around half way through for lunch. After a very tiring day on the water we de-rigged and changed for a debriefing with Johnny and very useful video feedback. Then we all off to the canteen for a well earned supper and then off to the pub for chips. . . |  |
| The weather forecast for the Saturday was for rain in the morning with 25 knots of wind, reducing as the day went by and for light winds on Sunday with a pleasant temperature of 10 degrees centigrade. The weather forecast for once was spot on. David Woodhead became the head coach for the weekend in the absence of Catherine. Dave decided in view of the wet weather that the sailors did not have to rig their boats until the rain had stopped, which was in perfect time for lunch... |  |

Catherine Putt will be taking on an acting role in the class as a new coach - a short introduction : "I started sailing when I was 8 years old, got involved in the cadet class and enjoyed my time in the class attending a national and international events and qualyifying 1st in the UK for the European team. I did a small stint in a 420 and then 470's but decided I wanted to focus on my degree and coaching. I found the Scorpion class soon after and have really started to enjoy my sailing again. I have been coaching since I finished cadets and have trained at a zone, national and international level. I have provided regatta support internationally at 5 world and European championships. I am looking forward to working with the Mirror class and the sailors." |

The second south zone squad weekend at Itchenor. It was great to meet up with the squadies again.Saturday we started with a briefing and warm up with our coach Aaron. After which we went straight out on the water to practise starting and hovering. Then we came back in for lunch. In the afternoon we practised some reversing and then started mini races, Mali and Issie won the first race, Hugo and Will won the second race and who won the third race was Will and Ben. |
