Philip

Struggling to understand what exactly you don't like and where we should focus our attentions to improve things.

The new structure allows us to publish far more content, in fact we already have new items such as pdfs of previous year books and Images Magazines available for the first time. Past AGM minutes are already now in one easy to find location, previously they had been spread over the old site, so harder to find.

Webmaster Peter Sedgwick is working hard to get old content onto the new site.

As previously mentioned in another post, we are in a transitory period of moving from the old to new site. Currently the forum is probably the least satisfactory element, we are using the old forum in a frame, if you don't like this you can always easily exit the frame.

Quote from previous post........

We are busy transferring the best of the content from the old site and integrating new features. Currently the forum is the old one which dates back many years, we are upgrading to a far more modern offering which will fully integrate into the new site and avoid the scrolling etc. The challenge being to transfer all the old topics, many of which are still relevant today as when they were written. So we are in a bit of transistionery period as we move from old to new, but I hope you agree we have made great progress here and can look forward to plenty of exciting new features.

Paul,

Sorry - really annoying old fashioned frames. Let's lose them pronto!

I have nothing to do with the website, only trying to help Phil to see the forum with ease.

I do agree frames are old and unsupported, you will see the forum is put in using an iframe a feature that allows the insertion of a document into a web page. I am assuming this is an easy way to make the old forum accessible, as Simon has posted in website issues a new forum is being made and data transferred.

Short term pain, hopefully long term gain

Yes as Paul points out this is a short term solution whilst we ready the new forum and a solution for transffering over 15,000 previous postings

Fully agree, frames are not a good solution but keep us going

As I said before, we need a new forum but don't want to loose the old messages
