Zone squad feedback
Hi Team,
Well done this weekend I was very impressed with the massive improvement made over the weekend and the attitude you all took to training. I like to take you out of your comfort zone and to push you as much as possible. I think everyone was included in that!
It is really important to evaluate the weekend (only briefly) with your crew and if possible your parents and make goals for the next time you sail. We focused on starting/ boat-handling and the three fundamentals that make the biggest difference to a successful start. Starting is a huge area that every sailor needs to continually practice. If we can develop excellent understanding of boat handling and show good technique under the pressure while on a start line, then you will start winning races!
It is vitally important that you sail between now and next time I see you. You should practice the areas we went over this weekend so that when we start the 2nd squad session we will not have to go over the same things as this one and we can move on as a group to other areas.
Please make sure that you organise next year’s calendar with your parents NOW so you don’t miss out on the important events.
The improvement you all made this weekend (only the first one) was one of the best I have seen and if that continues you will all surprise your selves in the national events next year.
